At Knight’s Suite, we want every guest to feel comfortable, confident and well looked after throughout their visit.
Knight’s Suite is located within the Mallory Court estate, with some facilities located inside Knight’s Suite itself and others available within the wider hotel, including the main house, Orchard House, Elan Spa and the surrounding gardens.
The information below has been provided to help guests plan their stay, particularly those whose visit may be affected by a medical condition, disability, impairment or specific access requirement. We have included as much practical detail as possible, but if you have any questions before your arrival, please contact our team directly and we will be happy to help.
Parking is available within the wider Mallory Court estate, including spaces at the front of the main hotel and at Orchard House and Elan Spa. The car park is open air, with a tarmac surface, and is free for hotel visitors.
There are six designated Blue Badge parking bays available. These bays are clearly marked and the surveyed bay dimensions are 370cm wide by 500cm deep. There is a marked access zone to one side of the bay, measuring 100cm wide, although there is no marked zone to the rear.
The nearest designated Blue Badge bay is approximately 25m from the main hotel reception. The most accessible route from the Blue Badge parking area to reception includes a slight slope and some uneven surfaces.
A designated drop-off point is available in front of the main hotel reception. A valet parking area is also located outside reception.
Guests staying at Knight’s Suite should check in at the main hotel reception at Mallory Court. Reception is not located within Knight’s Suite.
Reception is located to the left-hand side as you enter the main hotel, approximately 3m from the entrance door. The most accessible route to reception has step-free level access, with no doors to open along the route.
The reception desk is 117cm high and includes a lowered section measuring 76cm high. There is step-free level access to the reception area.
Please note that the reception area has some patterned or distracting backgrounds, which may affect the ability of someone to lip read. There is no hearing assistance system, and there may be background noise in this area.
Some flooring in reception is shiny and patterned. Lighting levels are even.
There is room for a wheelchair user to manoeuvre in the seating area, with clear space of 150cm by 150cm. There is also space for an assistance dog to rest.
Seating in this area includes chairs with armrests, chairs without armrests, sofas and benches. Some seating is fixed, and coffee tables are available.
There is step-free level access throughout the majority of areas within the wider Mallory Court estate.
Some areas have stepped access, including the lower areas of the gardens and terraces, and the Garden Room. Knight’s Suite has step-free access via a slope.
Please note that circulation routes across the wider hotel estate may include manual doors, uneven surfaces, narrow walkways and narrow openings. The contrast between walls and floors varies throughout the hotel, and some flooring is shiny or patterned.
There may be background noise in some areas of the venue. Wayfinding signage is provided, with consistent colour, design and typeface used throughout.
Lighting levels vary due to the size and character of the building, although lighting levels are adjustable in some areas.
Knight’s Suite is located to the left-hand side when approaching the entrance to Mallory Court Hotel.
The most accessible route to Knight’s Suite is step-free and accessed via a slope. Please note that the slope has a steep gradient and the route includes some uneven surfaces.
There are no doors to open along this route.
The ground floor and first floor of Knight’s Suite and Orchard House can be accessed by a standard lift and stairs.
Seating is available and our team will be happy to assist where possible. Please note that there is no hearing assistance system available.
Guests can borrow or hire selected accessibility equipment, including a manual wheelchair and shower chairs, subject to availability. Large print documents can also be provided on request.
A water bowl is available for assistance dogs. Please note that there is not a designated assistance dog spending area.
Staff receive training in Equality and Diversity, Safeguarding, First Aid and Fire Safety.
Room 7 is located within Knight’s Suite and includes a number of accessible features.
The bedroom is carpeted and includes a double bed, bedside tables, seating, a coffee table and a desk or dressing table. The room also includes freestanding furniture, so guests with specific access requirements are encouraged to contact the team before arrival to discuss room layout and suitability.
The en-suite bathroom has tiled flooring and includes adapted features around the toilet, wash basin and bath. There are grab rails beside the toilet, including a dropdown support rail, as well as a horizontal grab rail along the wall. The toilet is positioned next to the bath, and the wash basin has a lever-style mixer tap.
The bathroom includes a bath with an overhead shower and a fixed shower screen. A grab rail is fitted to the wall beside the bath.
Guests who may require additional support, are encouraged to speak to the team before arrival so that suitable equipment can be discussed.
An adapted toilet is available within Knight’s Suite. It is located through the doors to the far left-hand side when entering the building, approximately 18m from the entrance.
The most accessible route to the toilet is step-free and level, with doors held open along the route. There is step-free level access into the facility.
The toilet door has pictorial signage on or near the door, opens outwards and has a high colour contrast. The door is easy to open, with a clear opening width of 81cm, and has a twist lock. Internally, the door also has a high colour contrast and includes a grab rail.
The cubicle measures 147cm wide by 196cm deep. Please note that there is not room for a wheelchair user to manoeuvre within the cubicle. There is right-hand lateral transfer space as you face the toilet, measuring 81cm from the side of the toilet pan to the wall.
The toilet has a lever flush positioned on the transfer side. There is a horizontal grab rail on the non-transfer side and a dropdown grab rail on the transfer side, both with low colour contrast. There is no vertical grab rail for the toilet.
The toilet seat is 49cm from the floor and has low colour contrast. The toilet roll holder can be reached when seated and is positioned 39cm from the floor.
The wash basin has a lever mixer tap and can be reached when seated on the toilet. The basin is 73cm from the floor, with vertical grab rails on both sides. The wash basin grab rails have low colour contrast.
There is a wall-mounted soap dispenser, paper towels and a wall-mounted hand dryer. The soap dispenser can be reached when seated, has a high colour contrast and is positioned 112cm from the floor. The hand dryer also has a high colour contrast and is positioned 106cm from the floor.
There is a pull cord emergency alarm within the facility. Guests who may need assistance are encouraged to speak to the team before arrival or at check-in so that suitable support can be arranged.
A mirror, shelf, waste bin and pedal bin are provided. The shelf meets AccessAble criteria for Stoma Friendly Toilets, although there is an obstruction in front of it. There are no coat hooks.
The baby change facility is 103cm high when in use. The walls and floor have high colour contrast, and lighting levels were even at the time of survey, with unshaded light sources.
The gym is not located within Knight’s Suite. It is available within Orchard House.
The gym is located at the end of the corridor, to the left-hand side of the reception desk. There is step-free level access into the gym and throughout the space.
The gym is accessed via a single manual door, which opens away from you and is easy to open. The clear opening width is 82cm.
Please note that there is a small lip at the threshold, and the door has low colour contrast.
There is room for a wheelchair user to manoeuvre within the gym, with clear manoeuvring space of 150cm by 150cm between equipment. Equipment includes free weights.
The gym is staffed at specific times. There is no hearing assistance system, and there may be background noise in this room.
The flooring is shiny, and the walls and floor have high colour contrast. Lighting levels were even at the time of survey, with unshaded light sources.
Dining is available within the wider Mallory Court hotel estate and is not located within Knight’s Suite.
The main restaurant is situated on the ground floor of the main house and can be accessed via reception. The brasserie is located in a separate building, accessed via a stone pathway, with entrance through electric doors.
If you have any dietary requirements, food allergies or intolerances, please inform us before arrival where possible, or speak to a member of the team when you arrive.
Please note that while we follow best practice in our kitchens, we cannot guarantee that any dish is completely free from allergens, including nuts.
Public areas are available across the wider Mallory Court hotel estate, including the main house and Orchard House. These are not all located within Knight’s Suite.
The main hotel public areas are well lit, with a mixture of natural daylight, table lamps and floor lamps. Guest lounges are located on the ground floor and offer a range of seating, including sofas, armchairs and chairs with arms.
Corridors and public spaces vary in flooring, including stone, wood, carpet and rugs.
Mallory Court is set within landscaped gardens. Some outdoor areas are accessed via gravel, stone paths or lawned pathways, and surfaces may be uneven in places.
The rose garden can be reached from the front courtyard via a gravel path, leading to the stone terrace area. The kitchen garden can be accessed along the side drive and includes stone paths and lawned areas. Outdoor seating is available in selected areas.
The fire alarm system uses bells. We are able to provide assistance if you make us aware of this requirement. Our Manager on Duty will be made aware of any guests that require assistance in the event of an emergency evacuation.
